3-5 years of operations experience in an AIX environment. May be able to take someone with "no" AIX if they have Linux experience instead.

Description: Immediate start! Our client is in need of an AIX pSeries Operations Analyst. This contract is 3 months with a strong possibility of it developing into a full time position.

Required experience:

3-5 years of computer operations experience.

AIX and Linux is a major plus!

Time will be split between these two important areas:

THIS IS A JUNIOR ADMIN TYPE BUT A BIT HIGHER LEVEL THAN AN OPERATOR

IT Operations:
Monitor of systems, both local and remote. Provide local and remote data center(s) with high availability and proactive response to system generated alerts, customer contact, and correlation of information. Coordinate the dispatch of technicians to replace hardware. Assist with writing and testing of IT Operations procedures. Assist with the development of deploying/applying system patches following IT best practices.

AIX / Linux:
AIX is preferred but any Linux knowledge is a plus. General administration of AIX (5.2 and 5.3) environments including setting up users, installation of packages, files sets, security, NFS mounts, logical volume manager, ulimit environment settings etc. Knowledge of p550 and p570 virtual environments is a big plus but additional external resources are available to assist. Additionally, knowledge of Linux Red Hat is also a plus.

Additional Tasks:
The candidate may also be asked to assist in telecom issues, which usually include working with outside vendors to resolve telecom outages and phone services requests.

Shift:
Regular M-F day shift however, must be willing to work within a rotating on call schedule that includes weekends and evenings.

Education:
Qualified candidates must prior experience working within an IT Operations NOC or telecom company in a similar role is helpful.

Need to be immediately available. *Candidates local to the Los Angeles area only

Hello. My dept. recently brought an IBM/AIX server into our envrionment. I am an absolute novice. Where would be the best place to srart for an absolute beginner to learn AIX commands/structure?

I could not find a lot of books on AIX. Is it better to purchase an Intro to UNIX book?

pharthiphan,

you need to clean up failed installation : "installp -C"
run the check again to see if you are in a consistant state again

if not yet consistent after cleanup, it'll be harder to handle because of the NFS fileset dependencies. In that case the easiest thing to do is to work around the issue by updating the ODM classes.

if you are in a consistent state, you upgrade fileset bos.net.nfs.client to version 5.3.10.1

Tim

Ok, have some questions, and some info..
1) try /usr/bin/chpasswd very powerful tool for automation
via stdin you give it userid:password (list of many if you want to change 50 id's at once (1 id per record)
-c flag (removes admchg flag in /etc/security/passwd
-e flag says the password you're providing is already encrypted (good if you want to override pwd_alg in /etc/security/loign.cfg

QUesiton to you.. what do you mean "reset"??
as in set it "back" to seomthing? that implies you have a list of what that previous "something" was which can be a security risk in itself.
If you just want to reset failed login attemts.. .use chuser

guess I'm not clear on what you're trying to accomplish... can you give an example of how this would be used..
